January's Doings

Been so busy this month since my last post that I just have lost track of time, among other things.

My laptop is being repaired and I'm using my PC (no big deal—it works fine!), I've been doing census testing, it was Deb's birthday on the 13th, it was Third Saturday at the Gallery on the 17th, and it was "Barack's 1st Day" yesterday!  What a month so far!

Deb's Birthday

It was Deb's 58th birthday on January 13.  The pic at the upper-left is of Criesta and Deb.  I was busy with census testing the Friday and Saturday before, so Criesta basically planned Deb's birthday party, cooked us a great meal and baked a cake for Deb.  We celebrated it on Sunday, January 11 at our house with Criesta, TJ, the kids, and Elizabeth.

To continue the celebration, Deb, Elizabeth and I went to see the movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, an exceptionally poignant and interesting film based on an F. Scott Fitzgerald story. I recommend it—it's beautifully filmed and all the cast members are great. After the movie we went to dinner.

Then, on Tuesday, just before a meeting that Elizabeth and I needed to attend, we went to a new Mexican (Cascada) restaurant that we really enjoy on Main Street. So, Deb's birthday celebration turned into a multi-day event!

Third Saturday

On the Third Saturday of every month, the Gallery (Gold Country Artists Gallery)
participates in the Third Saturday Art Walk on Main Street in downtown Placerville. Usually, the galleries and some of the businesses are open for extended hours (6-9 pm) and may have special things going on.

On this past Third Saturday, we had our two featured artists at the Gallery and we had food, wine and live music. You can see more about this at the Gallery blog. I always enjoy Third Saturday and talking with people that come into the gallery and the other artists that are working that evening.

The pic at the right is Caroll Tuttle and Chris Teter playing light jazz at the Gallery on Third Saturday.

Barack's 1st Day

What an exciting day it was yesterday with our new President being sworn in!  I watched the swearing-in and since Deb was working, I recorded the whole day on our DVR so Deb could see the "Reader's Digest condensed version" of the day's events after she got home. We had also recorded and watched the concert "We Are One" on Sunday and enjoyed that immensely.

We are both thrilled with our new President and wish him and his family the very best and hope he can help bring the country to a better place.
